The Best High Chairs for Twins

Updated: Jan 30

You’ve made it through the first few months of life with twins, and now comes a decision about one of the messiest stages in any twin parent’s life: transitioning to high chairs and solid foods.  Although I can’t scrape spaghetti sauce off your walls, I can share some ideas and solutions to help you find the perfect fit for the best high chairs for your twins. So let’s get started…..

The Winner: Fisher-Price Baby/Toddler Portable Dining Chair

When my twinnies were little, we lived in a townhome and all of our family lived out of town. When it came time to buy highchairs for my twins, I wanted an easy to clean, space saving solution that was portable but also didn’t break the bank. I did a ton of research and ended up buying two Fisher-Price Portable Dining Chairs. It was, hands down, one of the best decisions I made.

Best portable high chairs for twins

Why I love this high chair

  • Space saving. Attaches to most dining and kitchen chairs and can be easily put on and taken off.

  • Sturdy. Although it is lightweight, it’s extremely sturdy and neither of my twins ever managed an escape act by squirming under the tray like I’ve seen with other high chairs.

  • Really easy to clean. There are no nooks and crannies for food to get stuck and it’s easily wiped clean. The tray is also dishwasher safe.

  • Height adjustable. You can change the height as your twins grow and even use it as a booster without the tray when they are old enough.

  • Can easily be taken when traveling to see family and friends. The seat folds down and it can be carried and is really lightweight. Because, really, who on earth other than other twin parents will have TWO high chairs handy?

Reasons This High Chair Might Not Be For You

There are few cons with this high chair, other than there is no seat padding on it. Like any high chair, safety always comes first and you need to ensure your child doesn’t use their feet to push backwards off a table or other structure.

Net net: I have recommended this high chair option to all of my friends (not only those with twins) and we all give this option two thumbs up.

The Best Value: Evenflo 4-in-1 Eat & Grow Convertible High Chair

This option made the list for twins because it is highly versatile but very reasonably priced. What I like about this high chair is that it can be taken apart when your twins get older and used as separate chairs and tables - perfect for Playdoh, legos and messy crafts!

Best Value High Chairs for Twins

Why I love this high chair

  • A lot of bang for your buck.

  • Grows with your twins. It can be used as a high chair, dining chair, toddler standalone chair and big kid table and chair.

  • Easy removable machine washable seat cover.

Reasons This High Chair Might Not Be For You

  • It doesn’t fold up. It’s lightweight so it can be easily moved around and/or taken apart, but it cannot be folded for easy storage.

  • Although there is a 5-point safety harness, there are no straps to secure the chair to a dining room or kitchen chair if you are using it as a booster seat.

  • The seat material design options could be better.

The Compact: GRACO Slim Snacker High Chair

Looking for a more traditional high chair for your twins, but still concerned about space for two? This next option made the list because it combines two things I love - compact size but lots of utility.

Why I Love This High Chair

  • It can be folded with one hand in a second (once the tray is removed)

  • Not bulky. It is ultra compact when folded for easy storage in small spaces

  • Three reclining positions. This is particularly useful when your twins are smaller for head control/comfort.

  • Easy to wipe clean material (although it still has seams which are harder to clean)

Reasons This High Chair Might Not Be For You

  • The storage basket below the chair may be handy for things like extra bibs and wipes, but in my experience, it just becomes a crumb and food catcher. Unless your twins are super tidy eaters (and if so, please tell me how you do that), this feature is just another thing to clean. Times two.

  • Although it is wipe clean material, you may occasionally want to take the whole seating pad off to thoroughly clean it. This takes a little time to do and can be a little tricky to put back on.

The Splurge: Bugaboo Giraffe Wooden Baby High Chair

Looking for something that looks, well, less like a high chair? I found it really difficult to find high chairs with a more contemporary design aesthetic that blended in more with the rest of our home. This is particularly annoying as a parent of multiples when you need two or more high chairs in your space at one time! Enter the Bugaboo Giraffe Wooden Baby High Chair. Trust the Dutch to come up with something that is sturdy and beautiful in one!

Contemporary aesthetic high chairs

Why I love this high chair

  • Looks sleek, modern and has a small footprint compared to other high chairs.

  • Easily Adjustable. It has a quick-click solution to adjust the chair in 1 second without tools.

  • Other Bugaboo accessories are available that will grow with your twins.

  • Climate pledge friendly, made with sustainable wood.

  • Comes in 4 different color options.

Reasons This High Chair Might Not Be For You

  • Definitely a more expensive solution but not outrageously so (and it’s about as modern a high chair in terms of design that you can currently get)

  • Other accessories are sold separately, so costs can add up

  • It does not fold like some of the other high chairs that made the list.
